The Sexual Abuse in Detention Centers

Today, I feel sick to my stomach and overall, extremely sad. I found out from a RAICES attorney that there are currently 11 cases of sexual abuse committed by both CBP and ICE officials. These girls are as young as 4 years old. One of these girls, was taken to the back of the patrol car where she was raped. The other girl was repeatedly raped by the ICE official who was also threatening the mother with deportation if she spoke out. This brave, resilient, young mother not only stood up for her daughter, and spoke out against this abuse, regardless of the consequences. It’s horrible that people who have already been traumatized have to go through such atrocious events.
